The Community Hub Drop-in is held at St Mary’s Church, St Margarets, every Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30am.
It is a safe and welcoming space for anyone who needs it.
We can also provide:
* A private telephone for people to access various charities/organisations, including Citizen’s Advice Bureau, MIND, Age UK, National Domestic Abuse Hotline and Alcoholics Anonymous.
* A Chromebook to enable people to search online for additional support in our quiet, private space.
So, if a good cuppa and a chat sounds like it might be just what you need, then come along!
Many of you will be only too aware of the dreadful flooding last night in Stanstead Abbotts. There have been some alarming videos posted on the Stanstead Abbotts Community News page showing the extent of the flooding; with areas mentioned as particularly affected being Cappell Lane, Roydon Road, Marsh Lane and Netherfield Lane. The Fire Service attended and cleared the drains in an effort to assist with the run-off, and this morning the flooding had eased.

This isn’t the first time that Stanstead Abbotts have experienced flooding like this; indeed Stanstead Abbotts has a history of flooding. As you can read on the Environment Agency’s Stanstead Abbotts Drain Information Page (VIEW HERE), this is a known issue.
Cllr Julia Whitting posted on the Stanstead Abbotts Community News the following message: ‘Just reaching out to say that I hope everyone who was flooded last night and is cleaning up this morning is as ok as you can be under the circumstances. If you want to send me any videos or photos so I can continue to lobby the Environment Agency and County Council for action, with other parish councillors, please message me or email jwitting@stansteadabbottsparishcouncil.gov.uk.
The annual Parish meeting is on Tuesday at 7.30pm at the Parish Hall on Roydon Road. Do come along and air your views.’
Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by this flooding and we are keeping everything crossed that the rain will stay away enough for things to dry out.
Incident Response The Environment Agency operates 24/7 incident response to monitor and attend the area for flood risk management when required. This includes remote monitoring of the Stanstead Abbotts Drain trash screen via CCTV.
In the event of a blockage in the watercourse or immediate flood risk please notify the Environment agency using the Environment Agency incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60.

6.30–8.15pm: A concert of Jazz and more performed by students from The Purcell School in the listed 17th century rustic hay barn, with drinks and canapes.

From now until 31st December 2024 a single bus journey will cost no more than £2 on most routes across Hertfordshire.0 The Department for Transport (DfT) have extended the £2 fare cap scheme nationwide and are working in partnership with operators who have signed up for the scheme.
The bus fare cap is designed to support families through the cost of living pressures, enabling millions of people to access affordable bus travel. To find out how you could save more search ‘Help for Households’.
Arriva, Bishops Stortford Community Transport, Carousel Buses, Centrebus, Central Connect, First Essex Buses, Metroline (excluding Service PB1), Red Eagle, Redline Buses, Stagecoach, Sullivan Buses (on Service 84 only) and Uno.
A2B Bus and Coach, Britannia Coaches, Grant Palmer, Landmark Coaches, Little Jim Buses, Lucketts of Watford, Marshalls Coaches, Red Rose Travel, Reg’s Coaches, Richmonds Coaches, Sullivan Buses (on all services except 84), Vale Travel, Vectare.
What type of journeys and tickets does the scheme apply to? The £2 fare cap applies to single journeys regardless of length of journey. It does not apply to weekly, monthly, annual or multi operator ticket products.
Note that services that only operate on schooldays and/or where the primary purpose of the bus is to transport school children are excluded from the fare cap scheme.
Can I use my Hertfordshire SaverCard? If you are using a SaverCard and the fare you would have paid is higher than £2 then the fare will be reduced to £2 to align with the fare cap scheme.
Does the scheme apply to the HertsLynx Service? HertsLynx is participating in the £2 fare cap. From 16th–31st December, passengers who are pre-booking trips for January can use the discount codes to reduce their fare to £2.00.
From 1st Jan, all single fares will automatically be capped at £2. If a SaverCard user or a child (10 years and under) is travelling 0–2 miles only, they will need to select the discount as normal to ensure their fare is discounted to £1.50.
SaverCard holders or children who are travelling over 2 miles will not need to use any discount codes as the £2 fare will be less than their original discounted fare price.
Information for Bus Pass holders You will be able to use your bus pass as normal. The £2 fare cap will apply to bus travel outside of the English National Travel Concessionary Scheme time restrictions; i.e. before 0930 and after 2300 outside of Hertfordshire.
